This must be a concern as toothpaste is something that we use twice daily and the possibility of it getting inside our body is uncanny. We can never know what ingredients could have been inside the fake toothpaste hence it might be deadly to those who use it.

Colgate especially has always been a victim of fake toothpaste since they are one of the most famous brands. Fox News Channel shared that Colgate-Palmolive said there are indications that the fake toothpaste does not contain fluoride and may actually contain diethylene glycol. Diethylene glycol (DEG) is never used in toothpaste anywhere in the world and sometimes used as an inexpensive sweetener and thickening agent. DEG is also commonly found in solvents and antifreeze.

Fake toothpaste can often be found in dollar stores, and the price is definitely too good to be true. Taste of Home stated that when it was tested, a few brands had fluoride levels up to 10 times higher than the usual ones. This is why people need to always check the ingredients first whenever they want to buy cheap stuff. Do not ever just grab it because it is a good deal and cheaper than anywhere else. The consequences that you get after that might affect you badly.

The truth is that these toothpaste can go everywhere in the market without us realizing. As shared by The Star shared a case that was reported in Sarawak, Malaysia is that The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry had seized 1,600 tubes of counterfeit toothpaste. Without doubts, counterfeit toothpaste must have been done with unknown chemicals that are not checked thoroughly. Sad that there are still people who would still get bluffed on these fake items. This is why we need to educate people more on fighting counterfeits.
