Earlier in June, Amazon launched its first Counterfeit Crimes Unit in order to fight fake products on their online shopping site. And now Amazon has finally come out with this unit that works together with former federal prosecutors and experienced investigators. Not only that, The Verge shared that the unit would be able to make it easier for them to file civil lawsuits against counterfeiters together with law enforcement officials.

Some law enforcement authorities also took part in this unit. It is believed that such act as freezing assets is one of the most effective ways is stopping them from producing counterfeits. Amazon is urging the government to give authorities the investigative tools, funding and resources they need to bring criminal counterfeiters to get criminal enforcement. If not done with criminal enforcement, the probably would not even budge to stop producing counterfeits.

As recorded by Forbes last year (2019) there was 99.9% of products on Amazon did not have any single counterfeit complaint.
